How to read this table:
- Standard ≠ certification. A standard is the test method and grading system; a listing or certificate is evidence that a specific model was tested by an accredited body. Ask for both, matched to the exact model number on the quote.
- Fire doors are an assembly question. A UL-listed hinge does not make a door assembly compliant; the door, frame and hardware combination is what gets tested and labelled.
- CE marking is a declaration of performance, not a guarantee of fitness for your opening. For harmonised standards the route runs through the Construction Products Regulation (EU) 305/2011. 4. Sourcing essentials: MOQ, lead time and inspection
This section deliberately avoids invented numbers. MOQ, price and lead time depend on product complexity, finish, packaging and order history, and any figure quoted as a general rule should be treated as a negotiating anchor, not a fact. What follows are the structural points that reliably affect a first order.
4.1 Minimum order quantity (MOQ)
MOQ in this industry is not a single number — it is a function of how the product is made:
- Stocked standard items (common hinge sizes, standard-function locksets in a popular finish) generally carry the lowest MOQ, because the supplier is drawing on existing production runs.
- Custom finishes, private-label packaging and matched hardware families generally carry higher MOQ, because the supplier must dedicate a production or finishing batch and cannot sell the balance of it to anyone else.

- Define an inspection standard up front. - Inspect finishes, not just function. Corrosion and appearance claims are finish claims. - Run a pre-shipment inspection on the first orders using a third-party inspector, and photograph carton labels, quantity and finish in the same session as the functional check.
